Introduction Footprint
Description: This project allows students to express facts about themselves by displaying symbols and images. Students started by tracing their foot on a piece of paper that was the color of their choice. The students then had to use multiple different medias in their art work (paint, paper, colored pencil, marker, etc...). Students were then able to create images that they could use to introduce who they are based off of physical characteristics or interests. In this activity, I was able to display my former and current school colors, images that represent my past jobs and future job, my favorite movie, and my car. Students could use their imaginations to come up with many different symbols that could be representative of who they are.
Extension Activity: another activity that could be used similar to this project would be incorporating language arts into their creation. Kids could create images that start with the same letter, images of words that rhyme, or even images that describe vocabulary words in order to create a footprint project like the one above. This activity can help students display what they know and have learned by using different art forms.
