Clay- Apple Pinch Pot
Description: For this project we started by learning about Johnny Appleseed. We started by tossing the clay down on the table to release any air bubbles from the clay before creating an apple shaped pot out of it. We shaped the clay and used a roughing up technique to get the stem and leaf to stick to the main part of the pot. After making the pot we let the clay dry for a bit before painting the inner part white and the outter part red. We painted the leaf green before mixing up some brown paint to color the seeds and stem.
Extension Activity: This project could go along with a creative writing activity. Students could write a story about what they would have done if they had met Johnny Appleseed. Students could share their stories with the class if they want to develop writing and speaking skills.
